The Kruger National Park is asking visitors to switch off the geotagging function on their cellphones when taking and sharing pictures of wildlife, as it could lead poachers to their next kill.
Park management says poachers use social media for intelligence. Hunters can potentially use geotagged photographs to track the whereabouts of rhinos and elephants. The park is considering cutting off cellphone signals inside its perimeter.
