SADC sees 45 mln people severely food insecure due to drought： UN report
The Southern African Development Community has seen 45 million people severely food insecure due to a devastating drought, according to a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) report.
Zimbabwe is seeing its worst hunger crisis in a decade, with 7.7 million people, half the population, suffering from hunger. WFP has secured 205 million of the 489 million US dollars required for the assistance in eight of the hardest-hit countries: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini and Malawi.
